SF Exploratorium Adventure – Thursday Evening Adult Only
Amazing Toothpick Sculpture at the Exploratorium that took 14 years to create!
“The Exploratorium is all about experiencing the excitement of experimentation, the pleasure of discovery, and the power of understanding. ” – Plan Your Visit, Exploratorium
Exploratorium is a science museum with over 600 exhibits, observatory and large focus on tinkering. Also this year the SF Exploratium made the big move from the Palace of Fine Arts to Pier 15 on Embarcadero, SF CA.
Last Thursday, I was able to convince E and our friends Dom, Tania, Eugene, and Nena to go to the Exploratorium for their Thursday evening’s adult only event. Yes I know what you are thinking ~ adult only in SF… Please get your mind out of the gutter because it’s not anything kinky even if there’s a lot of experimenting and tinkering. 😛
Exploratorium started exclusive 18+ adult only event on Thursday nights from 6-10pm. You can check out more details on the site (here) and you can purchase tickets online or day of at the museum. The tickets are only $15 instead of the usual $25 admission. Exploratorium exhibits are open to view, cocktails & alcohol can be purchased and there’s a variety of hands on activities.
We all felt by the end of the night that we were very impressed with the spread of activities, number of exhibits and the variety of displays offered by the Exploratorium. Many times through out the night we were pulled in separate ways by all the intriguing displays. It had something for everybody from holding a real human brain to learning about how the eye works, to playing with magnets, then you could creating circuit board pumpkin and so many other things. I darted from exhibit to exhibit trying to consume as much knowledge and see as many displays as possible. The rooms just kept going and they even had a upstairs level! There’s wasn’t much of wait for any exhibits but even so there’s not enough time to see everything in one go!
(Inside of Pinball Machine – Did you know there’s so many different part involved in a game?)
We had a great time plus with no kids around we didn’t have to fight to play with the exhibits! There was plenty of adults at the event but my friends who came before said it not nearly as crowded as it usually is. I think it would be a great place for a date night, group event or just if you are in town for the night. It’s like 40% off the normal admission price and it’s really fun place to be. I would recommend it.
