Recap – 2013 iFabbo SF Blogger Conference
iFabbo SF Conference (#iFabboSFcon) – Social Media Panel
I was super lucky and I won a ticket to the iFabbo conference through MakeupGeek Youtube’s giveaway video. This was my 1st blogger conference and since going the event, I’ve really gained a lot of motivation to keep blogging. ^^
The conference was really great! There were non-stop panels for pr, blog monetization, social media, photography, legal and technology. My favorite panels were the social media panel because it had MakeupGeek and the Legal panel. Marlena from MakeupGeek is so gorgeous and sweet. The Legal panel was very informative though I am a bit daunted by all the different rules and laws out there. I can’t forget to mention the Photoshop demo was serious magic, I need it in my life. I was amazed how informative the panels were.
Other than panels, iFabbo conference had a sponsorship area with booths, live demos, they provided lunch, a keynote speaker, there was a cupcake break and a HUGE goodie bag for attendees. (see below)
Keynote Speaker – Jacqueline Wales, author of The Fearless Factor
Jacqueline Wales was the keynote speaker. She’s a very talented speaker. I say this because after hearing her speech I got enough courage to say what I felt fearful about to the entire audience. I spoke about how in life I am searching for real friends and if I could leave the conference with 1 new friend, I would be happy. It sounds so normal as I write about it but at that time I was shaking in cold fear. I am not saying that I don’t have great friends but it’s come to my attention as I’ve gotten older, solid friendships have become harder and harder to find. I love blogging, don’t get me wrong but I want to find people outside of social media. Gasp! I would like the real company of others.
I was afraid that people would find me a peculiar for making such a statement. Yet at the end of the night, I was overwhelmed by the positive response I had received from the audience. People were crowding me, handing over their business cards, setting up dates to hangout, taking pictures with me and telling me I am courageous. I have never gone from being so afraid to being so elated. This week I have even set up a Bay Area Blogger group on Yahoo and made some plans to hangout with fellow bloggers.
I learned that you should live life not without fear but never let fear stop you from living your life to the fullest. If you’ve been afraid of accomplishing something or think you can’t do it, just try…what do you have to lose? You have everything to gain.
Anyways, I bought the book at the event and I started to read it last night. I find it to be a fast paced read, I’m on page 64 already!
Samples from Sponsors’ Booth
I picked up some nifty freebies from the different sponsors at the event. Becca Cosmetics was a large sponsor of the event. They did a demo of a top secret new makeup brush and they had a booth with some of their cosmetics. I was pretty excited to receive cheek/lip beach tint. I had never tried Becca cosmetics prior to this event. They are sold at Sephora. I also received a $20 credit to Boohoo.com (UK clothing brand launching into the US) and full size Prai skincare primer (it’s a bit sparkly).
Boohoo.com’s Mel Tartan Skater dress with skinny black belt $40 (online site)
Also Boohoo had this awesome promotion where they gave away a free article of clothing if you Instragram-ed it. I got this adorable red tartan dress and I think it would be perfect for the upcoming holidays. Boohoo.com is a UK brand that is launching their US site. They currently have 20% off everything promotion going. I got the dress in sz US 6/ UK 10. I am really impressed that off the bat, I felt the dress really fit me. The skirt has a nice twirl effect. The dress material is very soft and smooth. It’s made from polyester and elastane. When I have some more time this weekend I might do some more shopping on their site because they have quite a extensive catalog and it’s a different style from the shops near me.
iFabbo SF Conference – Goodie Bag
Remember when you use to go to a friend’s birthday party and they would hand you a little goodie bag at the end of the night? I used to think that was awesome. Well this is 100 times better. For those who purchased iFabbo tickets I think it’s was $100? Anyways, the panels were great but the goodie bag pays for the ticket. The goodie bag was jam packed with beauty items provided from their iFabbo sponsors. This bag was so filled to the brim that when I picked it up, the entire bag broke! It was that full.
I am eager try out the DermOrganic hair line with argan oil. It seems like argan oil has become so trendy. I love seeing NYX cosmetics in the bag. I am excited to try out the MakeupGeek pigment. I really wished that MakeupGeek had a booth so I could test out more of her line. This will be my first Makeup Geek, but perhaps I’ll ask for some of her eye shadows for Christmas. Muhaha, it’s like 2.5 months away but I’m ready thinking about Christmas. <3
Despite being a little makeup addict, I haven’t tried many of these brands or products before. I’m excited to review them for this blog. Regardless that they were free, I will always provide my true and honest opinions in my reviews! Wowza I don’t even know where to put it all. I think I will also be sharing some of my goodies with my mum and my friends and spread the love.
What a wonderful conference. I hope they host another next year!
